How can this book Learning to learn, Að læra að læra - með sjálfseflingu, help me?
Answering the student:
Doing well in school is important, but sometimes schoolwork can be a bit hard. There is a lot of reading to be done, lots of issues to understand, and often you need to memorize a great deal.
- In my book, I suggest you try some new ways to prepare for your schoolwork. By practicing and adopting those learning strategies, I believe you will soon find that doing your homework now takes less time than before, but you'll still improve your grades.
- They help you to understand the texts better, and your memory is likely to improve.
- I know that you may find some of the things I tell you a bit strange, e.g., how to place your textbooks as you read, and why you should read 20 minutes three times, instead of reading for an hour in 1 sitting. Just trust the process and play along. Hundreds of students have used those methods with great results.
- As you make better use of your time, you get more free time for your hobbies and friends.
My book, Að læra að læra - með sjálfseflingu, is not only about how to do well in school. It is important to remember that it's not enough to do great at school; you need to feel good about yourself as well. We can all get lonely, and sad from time to time, as well as feel anxious.
- Learn how to find effective ways to get the results you want through goal setting.
- Plan your steps to get to understand your math better.
- Your self-confidence will improve, and you'll learn ways that make you realize how amazing and talented you are.
- Do you feel sad from time to time, do you feel a lot of stress or even anxiety? Well, it's okay and that is normal. When such difficult feelings linger, it's good to know how to deal with them and how to overcome them. I made some worksheets for you to do just that.
I believe that there is a lot in my book that you will find useful.
Be honest as you fill out the exercises, as you answer the questions, and as you find out what you really want.
There are no wrong answers.
p.s. As you do the worksheets in the book you might want to mention some names, but you don't want anyone else to know who you are thinking about.
Then I suggest you make some signs instead of writing the names, and only you will know who it is.
If there is something you don't understand in the book (as long as you read Icelandic), then ask your teacher or parents.
